Re: Strike Team Protocols
We will be mailing a copy of the Strike
Team Protocol for Request & Response
and the protocol for Strike Team
Commanders. It is recommended that all D
7 departments review these protocols. Strike
Team areas should select Commanders based on
their availability and familiarity with our
Strike Team program.
Although it is not listed on any
protocol, it was agreed when the Strike
Teams were initially organized, that the
Incident Commander who requests the Strike
Team might do so at his/her pleasure. In
other words, it was agreed that a Strike
Team could be summoned to report direct
to the scene of the incident, go into
staging, or be used as coverage
for that community, or surrounding
communities, depending on the circumstances.
Strike Teams should be called when your
usual mutual aid has already be summoned;
but there can be times, again depending on
the circumstances, when a Strike Team, needs
to be called immediately.
Our general rules are, and have always
been, that the following items must be
adhered to:

The Commanders listed for that Team
should respond immediately. If one, or
both Commanders are not available, they
shall notify the Control Point, and
request to be filled in for.

It is the responsibility of each
community to know what equipment from
your department is listed on the run
cards. All equipment listed on
the card is to respond immediately
when called. If unavailable or
out-of-service, call to be filled in
for.

Upon arrival, one of the Commanders
shall report to the IC for assignment.
The Commander shall see that the
assignment is carried out.

All personnel who respond on the
Strike Team shall assist in carrying out
the IC’s assignment.
We will review the Strike Team Protocols
at the next D 7 meeting on Nov. 17, 2005
