PROTOCOL FOR STRIKE TEAM COMMANDERS

It is recommended that the All District 7 Strike Team Commanders use the following protocol for when responding to, and operating with, District 7 Strike Teams.

1. The designated Strike Team Commander (or Alternate Commander) shall notify the hailing Control Point that they are on the air and responding. They shall also inform the Control Point which radio frequency that the Strike Team will use for traveling to the requesting community. In the event that neither of the Strike Team Commanders are available, the Control Point Dispatcher shall make an announcement to the communities responding on the Strike Team to see if another chief officer is responding who can fill the Strike Team Commander role.

2. The Strike Team units shall be notified by the hailing Control Point that the Commander, or Alternate Commander is responding, and inform them of what the travel frequency shall be.

3. Upon arrival at the requesting community, the Strike Team Commander, or Alternate Commander, shall check in with the Command Post, unless they were notified to report to a staging area.

4. The Strike Team units shall report to the Strike Team Commander, or Alternate Commander, for a unit & personnel accountability check, before being assigned to the Fire Ground, UNLESS SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED BY THE INCIDENT COMMANDER TO PROCEED DIRECTLY TO THE FIRE SCENE FOR ASSIGNMENT.

5. The Strike Team Commander, or Alternate Commander, shall be responsible for the members of their team until they have been assigned to a task.

6. Communication between responding Strike Team units should be kept to a minimum on 33.62 MHz. The Strike Team Commander, or Alternate Commander, may designate a different frequency for inter- team communication enroute to the fire or staging area.
